Close to Thiruvanthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital of Kerala, lies the pristine beach of Kovalam. Kovalam actually consists of three successive crescent beaches - the southernmost known as the Lighthouse beach, the Middle beach and the Third beach north of the Ashok Radission Resort.

The beaches are generally safe and clean. There are life guard patrols on the beach, but you still need to be careful when swimming. Snorkeling in such a wonderful tract of nature gives an unparalleled high. Surfboards and boogie boards can be hired on the Kovalam beach. Marine Angling for deep-sea fishing is also available at the beach. The speed lovers can participate in the exhilarating sport of parasailing.
Sightseeing at Kovalam -
The towering promontory of rock dominating Kovalam beach and looking over a clear bay of blue water is a feature that is unique on the 600 km coastline of Kerala. A stretch of sparkling golden sand 100 m from the sea along the coastline with a few coral reefs further away is a natural marvel.

Best Season to Visit : Though Kovalam is open through out the year, September to March is the best time to visit.
