Rajkot, was once the capital of the state of Saurashtra, rich in cultural heritage and great ancient past. This is the town where the great Mahatma Gandhi spent the very early years of life. The state was founded by Vibhoji who was the younger son of Ajoji. The main city where the British government laid its headquarters during the British rule. The state has large number of great colonial buildings with great architecture and world-wide educational institutions. The main state for textiles where large number of exports takes place is an amazing state full of opportunities. It has world famous National weaving institutes which greatly promote the traditional art. This is one of the important places for religious centre of Arya Samaj.
Climate of Rajkot :
Rajkot is located at the bank of river Aji, which is almost dry now, so the town has dry climate except only during the monsoons. It experiences extreme temperatures during summers and winters. The maximum temperature during summers 44 degrees centigrade and minimum of 25 degrees temperature.
Attractions of Rajkot :
» Aji Dam : The dam is built by the government of Gujarat, the main source of water supply to the city area. The area is nicely maintained by Rajkot Municipal Corporation. There is also an amusement park around with beautiful landscaped garden surrounded by zoo, it also poses crocodile park which is the main attraction here. This is the main entertainment center for the citizens of the town and also for the people as a tourists.
» Swaminarayan Temple : The most famous temple for Swaminarayan Sampradaya. The place is situated at Bhupendra Road. The temple is more famous for its Philanthropic activities.
» Shri Ranchhoddas Ashram : The ashram was first introduced by Shri Ranchhoddas Bapu. The charity for this ashram runs the hospital for blind people, and the ashram falls on Kuvadava Road.
» BAPS Swaminarayan Temple : The temple was built in the 1998-1999 by Shri Swaminarayan Sampradaya. The temple is situated near mahila college on Kalavad Road. The temple is said to have one of the largest auditoriums throughout the state and having the capacity for thousands of people.
» Ramakrishna Aashram : The temple is situated on Yagnik Road, and was built in the year 1934. the donation for the land was given by the king of Morbi state. The most famous location for the followers of swami Vivekananda.
